On behalf of the Fair Board and myself, we welcome you to the 82nd annual Caruthers District Fair. If you live around the area you'll notice the carnival lights are up and running several days before the fair starts. It's our way of announcing fun times ahead in Caruthers.
We understand that four days out of the year can go by pretty quickly, but we hope you'll come by and enjoy the hard work invested by the community and board to make this “California's Largest Free-gate Fair.”
The official opening ceremony and Queen's coronation starts off the week on Wednesday evening. There are also many attractions to see this year, including the annual junior Livestock show and Auction. You won't want to miss the Commercial exhibits filling two buildings as well as the Floriculture, Horticulture and Home Ec exhibits and school artwork on display throughout the fair. Did I mention food? You can eat to your heart's delight from a great variety of booths run by local nonprofit organizations. The homemade pies are famous and something people look forward to enjoying year after year.
The quality sounds of the nightly Entertainment will be taking place on two stages at the fair grounds. We also have the finest Carnival in the state with Johnston Amusements, providing safe and fun-filled excitement for all. Motorcycles and quads will be racing in the arena on both Friday and Saturday evenings.
We'll be striking up the bands at the annual downtown parade, taking place on Saturday morning at 10:00. The fair will wind down on Saturday night around midnight with the raffle drawing for the 2012 Ford Mustang! The core of what funds this entire fair each year, are the raffle tickets sold by the Queen contestants. They have been out selling tickets all summer, so If they approach you sometime soon, please be as generous as you can. Without you and the contestants each year, all of this would not be possible.

I look forward to seeing you at the fair!
