RULES AND SCORECARDS
The Junior Livestock Show of the Caruthers District Fair Association follows
the rules and scorecards as published by the State of California Department of
Food and Agriculture Division of Fairs and Expositions. (2000 STATE RULES AND
SCORECARDS FOR CALIFORNIA FAIRS)
LIABILITY INSURANCE
County, district, and state fairs cannot legally carry liability insurance
covering junior exhibitors or their exhibits. Liability insurance is the
responsibility and at the discretion of the junior exhibitor. Therefore, it is
suggested that the junior exhibitors consider taking out a liability policy
covering themselves and their exhibits.
ELIGIBILITY AND AGE REQUIREMENT
FFA members may participate as members until the end of the calendar year
following the year of graduation from high school.
4-H members may enroll when entering the fourth grade, and can exhibit as
a member until the end of the calendar year in which the member becomes age 19.
Independent junior exhibitors who are not FFA or 4-H members can enter
appropriate FFA or 4-H classes if they meet the following age requirements: a)
exhibitor must be at least 9 years of age on the first day of the fair and b)
exhibitor must not be older than 17 years of age during the fair. Junior
exhibitors who have been FFA or 4-H members within 60 days prior to the fair
(120 for cattle) are not eligible to compete as independent junior exhibitors.
Independent junior exhibitors will compete with 4-H members when 4-H and FFA are
judged separately.
EXHIBITOR UNIFORMS
FFA Uniforms - The official FFA show uniform to be worn by all FFA
exhibitors and their helpers in individual and chapter groups while showing at
fairs and livestock shows shall consist of white trousers, white dress shirt
(short or long sleeved with the FFA emblem attached to the left pocket) and the
official FFA four in hand necktie. The official FFA jacket is optional; if worn,
the shirt emblem is not required. Hats or headgear of any kind shall not be worn
with the official uniform while showing. Show uniform requirement is determined
by the FFA organization.
4-H Uniforms - White or off-white trousers, white shirt, 4-H tie, and hat

seller will be notified immediately as to the action to be taken. Prompt
payment by the buyer is sought.
Fair management will arrange the order of the sale after completion of
judging.
All market animals awarded a purple, blue or red ribbon shall be eligible for
sale.
Only one animal per species per exhibitor is eligible to be sold unless
